Post & Rail Fencing
Poles of 20 – 30 year-old sweet chestnut are cleft into rails and finished by hand to fit into substantial 2 metre cleft half round morticed chestnut posts. Also known as ‘Sussex Rail’, this strong and elegant fencing can last 30 – 40 years or more, depending on conditions.
- Posts are 2m high
- Rails are either 2m or 2.9m long
- Can be made to take 2 or 3 rails
- Can be supplied with bark on or off
- Corner, angle and end posts available
- Made to custom dimensions on request
Post & rail is ideal for paddocks, gardens and parkland
Knee rail fencing is an alternative version that consists of single hand-cleft chestnut rails forming a low level barrier. It is suitable for defining areas and as a marker for paths, such as in car parks and parks
